Here at Splinter we have an exciting couple of months ahead. But in the design world, exciting usually means busy. And that is the case here!
So we are likely to need an extra pair of hands to support our illustrators.
If you’re from an illustration or design background and would like to learn a bit about working on projects for clients like the BBC, then drop us a line to be considered for a placement opportunity. You need to be comfortable drawing by hand, and be able to think of creative ideas quickly and get them on to paper quickly. Being familiar with Adobe Illustrator would be very handy too.
We’re looking for people who can do a couple of weeks, starting pretty much immediately, and then we would review it from there.
Send a CV, work samples and a portfolio link to email@example.com
To support it’s King’s Scholars outreach programme, Splinter partnered with King’s College London to develop Gameplan, an online source of information for disadvantaged Key Stage 3 children (11-14 year olds). The site features an engaging suite of games introducing the skills that will be needed to successfully complete a course at university.
The Welsh language is a vital part of Welsh culture, and education plays a key role in keeping that culture alive. This series of short-form animations, produced in collaboration with BBC Bitesize, follow a group of teenagers on their daily adventures around relatable Welsh locations, and encourage pupils to use Welsh language in everyday scenarios – covering topics such as greetings, money and days of the week. And we’re happy to say that the Foundation Phase animations and the KS2 animations have now gone live on the Bitesize Wales site. And the BBC have published a press release about them on their site.
For the last few months we’ve been busy working on a trio of new websites for Chetham’s in Manchester, including Chetham’s School of Music, Chetham’s Library and their new performance venue The Stoller Hall. As part of the job we focused on how best to bring the three different identities together, and went as far as developing a brand new identity for the Library. The websites are now live and can be accessed via their hub page here. A full case study will follow in the near future!
So to make sure our American friends don’t feel left out, we’ve done Animal Allstars for all of the quarter-finalists in the Copa América. Enjoy!
It’s almost time for the Euro 2016 tournament – and we’ve put together another illustrated sweepstake kit! Similar to our Samba Sweepstake, it’s a set of 24 cards, featuring illustrated animals to represent each country.
Splinter and Liverpool company Twin Vision have been busy working with schools to create Liverpool’s ‘Local Offer’ app. The ‘Local Offer’ is a new law, which states that every local authority must talk with children and young people, with special educational needs or disabilities and their families to find out what sort of support and services they need.
Splinter recently launched 2 Welsh second language apps to promote and encourage learners to engage with the Welsh language. The games are designed for teachers and pupils of Primary and Secondary schools.
As a preferred supplier of digital services to The Welsh Government’s, Welsh in Education Resources Branch, we were pleased to have been invited and won the competitive pitch.
We were delighted to get the awesome news that we’re finalists in this year’s Lovie Awards with our BBC Seymour Science animations! There’s some very talented companies who are fellow finalists, so we’re honoured to be in amongst them all.
But we need your help please. There’s a People’s Choice award, which is voting for by the general public. If you could vote for us in the Internet Video > Animation category that would be amazing. And if you could get anyone you know to vote as well that would be even better. GO VOTE HERE!
Shameless promotion over! Thanks for your time folks.
